You are engaged! That’s fantastic! As engagement sessions become very popular and you might be wondering if you should have one.

I believe an engagement shoot is emotional and meaningful way to capture this beautiful moment in your life. But I also believe that if you take pictures, you should take time to print them, hang them on your walls, and really use them.

So, once you have your engagement photos back from your photographer … then what? Don’t just let your beautiful photos sit on your hard drive! It’s my hope that every couple will use and enjoy their engagement photos throughout their wedding season and for years to come! Here are ten ways to use and get the most out of your engagement photos:

1. Save the Date Cards

This is one of the most common classic way to get people excited about your wedding, and I think it’s a perfect fit. Using your photos in this way allows you to create beautiful and personal cards to announce your upcoming wedding to your guests. With your engagement photos, you are keeping your Save the Date style consistent and classy.

Have you thought about Save the Date magnets? They are also good idea. It always stays on your guests’ fridge, so they won’t forget!

2. Wedding website

A wedding website is a great place to share your love story, celebrate your engagement, introduce to your bridal party and show off the images from your amazing shoot. It is a useful resource that your guests will visit again and again as they check details on where and when events will take place, and to find the useful links. But while it’s important that your wedding website be informative, you don’t want it to feel generic or boring! Making use of your engagement photos throughout your wedding website is a perfect way to enhance it and make it feel unique!

3. Thank you cards

Just as with your save the dates, thank you cards seem like a clear choice for using your engagement images! You can work with a designer to incorporate your photos or use one of the many online options to create a beautiful card yourselves. The combination of your engagement photos and a personalized, hand-written message will make your guests feel so touched and connected to you!

4. Invitations

You probably won’t use your engagement photos on your wedding invitations, but there are many parties that lead up to wedding seems to keep growing. There is engagement party, the bridal shower, the bachelorette, and sometimes even multiple wedding celebrations. You can use your engagement photos for a polished and consistent look across events.

5. Social Media

With wedding planning, you are probably going to share some updates on social media along the way. Perhaps it is gratitude, excitement, or classic countdown post. Your engagement photos offer the perfect visual to accompany all these posts. They’re a gorgeous way to draw attention to your updates, and they allow you to skip the process of taking the perfect selfie.

6. Start your own Instagram hashtag with engagement photos

Coming up with a creative wedding hashtag is a fun thing you can do when you start planning your wedding. Use your hashtag when posting engagement photos and continue when documenting entire wedding planning process, your wedding day and all the way through to your honeymoon. Include your hashtag on your Save the Date, website, and encourage your friends and family to contribute to it. A year after you say I do, it will be fantastic to go back to see all the memories.

7. Guest book

This is my favourite choice of using engagement photos! I love to create a custom guest book for my clients, and I always make sure to leave plenty of space for guests to write their messages and wishes. By using your engagement photos in a guest book, your guests will have so much more fun signing it when they arrive at your wedding than they would if it was just a traditional guest book with a bunch of lines. This can become a beautiful keepsake filled with personal messages from your guests to look back at after the wedding.

8. Personalized favors or wedding decor

The options here are endless! Branding edible treats and other small items, like candy bars, printed custom wine labels or seating arrangements it’s a great way to add personality to your wedding décor. Nowadays you can have a photo printed on practically anything, so you’re only limited by your own imagination.

9. Perfect gift for your parents and grandparents

While everyone is sure to love your engagement photos, it’s your parents and grandparents who will treasure your beautiful story the most. Imagine their faces when they receive a beautiful photo album or nicely framed print for a birthday or Mother’s Day. It could be a perfect gift for them on your actual wedding day as well!

10. Use engagement photos as home décor

Printing your favourite photos and hanging them on the wall is a great way to showcase your engagement photos. You can get as creative as you like, from gallery wrap canvases and fine art matted prints to custom made blanket. There is something about holding a finished print in your hands that is infinitely more satisfying than viewing photos on a screen. Seeing your engagement photos while having a morning coffee or while you relax on the sofa will help to keep the joy of your relationship alive in your heart for years to come.
